Abstract
In this study I surveyed the dress and the color symbolism of Scarlett and Melanie in the movie "Gone with the Wind" based on the novel by Margaret Mitchell. In investigating the dress and the color symbolism, I analyzed Scarlett and Melanie`s image as described in the novel, and examined how the symbolic imagery is represented through coloration based on the DVD reproduction of the movie "Gone with the Wind` originally produced in 1939. In her novel, the author Margaret Mitchell introduced two women, Scarlett and Melanie, whose respective image sharply contrasts with each other. To express Scarlett`s young, vigorous, lusty, and vivacious image, she uses green to depict the character, clothing, and background on the whole. Black, which mainly expresses the death image of the mourning dress. Red symbolizes her fast and lavish image. On the other hand, gray is used to describe Melanie`s sedate, shyness, and modest image while alluding to her gloomy atmosphere. Brown symbolizes her sedate and plain image in the novel. In the movie, green symbolizes Scarlett`s overwhelming image of youth and liveliness as also depicted in the novel. Melanie, however, seems to appear consistently in gray-blue or purple dresses to reflect her image of modesty, sedation and dignity. Melanie`s blue image contrasts with Scarlett``s blue image in that the latter is used to hint at the omen to a tragedy to come. Red is used to express Scarlett`s passionate and fast image. Black symbolizes death or mourning in the movie.

The aim of study was to elucidate the antibiosis of the Sophora Radix extracts by ethanol solvent on bacterias The antibiosis on bacterias was examined in moisture water included the Sophora Radix extract. The results are as follows; Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of Sopora Radix extracts showed markedly lower on gram positive bacterias(0.0125~0.025) such as aureus, B. subtilis, S. epidermids than that on gram negative bacterias such as E. coli, P. aeruginosa(>10) The MIC of moisture water included the Sophora Radiix which extracted by ethanol solvent was very low which meaned good antibiosis(0.0063~0.5). The antibiosis of moisture water included the Sophora Radiix was improved by adding the ethanol on some baterias. In conclusion, Sophora Radix had excellent antibacterial effect. Therefore, it is expected that Sophora Radix can be practically used as the natural material of functional cosmetics for preventing the Bacterial inhibitory in skin.

Abstract
Premiere Vision is a leading textile collection held since 1973. In this study, textiles for 2004/05 F/W season in Premiere Vision were analyzed at the various point of view, such as general trend, sub-theme, fiber content, color trend, structure, yarn trend, pattern, texture, decoration, finishing and other technical treatment, and functionality. There were three general trends; natural/ecology, geometry, and combination. Natural color and texture were widely used over the fabric exhibited, and irregularities expressed the natural trend of textiles. Geometric patterns were used for knit as well as for woven. Geometry expressed by various methods such as weaving, knitting, printing, shearing, embossing, and etc. However, geometry shown in this season was not a clear form expressed by weaving, but a blurry, irregular form expressed by various other methods such as knitting. The combination among heterogeneous fibers, yarns, colors, images, and textures was usual, however, the harmony among them was accomplished.

To accomplish the above goal of this study, I have taken the statistics about wearing behavior and design preference for Saenghwal Hanbok. This is surveyed by 354 women having jobs 20-50years old-in Daegu. The result of the study is summarized as follows. People prefer to put on Saenghwal Hanbok same as the Korea Traditional Dress in the traditional holidays and the active style that they can dress as casual clothes having the Korea Traditional Dress`s characteristics as well. Form a viewpoint of appearance, people prefer Jugori have a bit spare width, the length comes near to the waist line, the type of Korean Traditional Dress`s sleeve, and the round type that is linked body and sleeve in waist section and length is between knee and the calf of leg.

China shows body size differences owing to varied climates, economic development, living standards, and ethnic distribution from region to region. That``s why some regional research regarding body sizes is necessary for the advancement of clothing goods into China. Here, the materials of the Chinese standard "GB/T 1335-1997 Clothing Sizes" are analyzed to reveal the somatotypes of Chinese adults. Height, chest girth and waist girth were differently noticed in six areas. 1. The distribution rates of four body types (Y, A, B, C) were diverse in six regions. 2. Regional differences were seen as follows: 1) As for the height of male adults, areas 1(Northeast, Hwabuk) and 2(Central Western) were larger than the national mean. Areas 3(Gwangdong, Gwangseo, Bokgeon), 4 (Unnam, Gwiju, Sacheon) and 5(Downstream Jang River) were rather small. 2) As for the height of female adults, areas 1, 2 and 6 (Midstream Jang River) were larger than the national mean. Areas 3 and 4 were smaller than the average. 3) As for the bust girth of male adults, area 1 was the only area that exceeded the national mean. Areas 3 and 4 turned out smaller than the average. 4) As for the bust girth of female adults, areas 1, 2 and 6 exceeded the national average. The other three areas were lower. 5) As to the waist girth of adult males, areas 1 and 2 exceeded the national average. The other four areas were lower. 6) As to the waist girth of adult females, areas 1, 2 and 6 exceeded the national average. Areas 4 and 5 were lower. 7) In the height, bust girth and waist girth of male and female adults, most regions showed differences in means, regional distribution and regional rates.

It has been known that the chitosan pre-treated fabrics can be dyed without the aid of mordanting process. It is due to the fact that chitosan treatment increases the dye uptake. However, the effect of chitosan on the dyeing mechanism has not been elucidated thus far. Following explanations have been presented regrading the action of the chitosan on the dyeing mechanisms: 1. Chitosan absorbs dyestuffs and facilitates dyeing since the chitosan itself has a good affinity toward dyestuffs. 2. Chitosan acts as a metallic mordant between the fiber molecule and dyestuff. 3. Fiber molecules and chitosan form a coordinate covalent bond. This study aims the quantitative investigation on the effect of the chitosan and the effect of sequence of the mordanting, pre-mordanting or post-mordanting, on the dyeing of the fabrics. Cotton fabrics and acylic fabrics were pre-treated with chitosan before dyeing with cochineal dyestuffs. Method 1: Fabrics were, firstly, mordanted with Al, Sn, Cu, and Fe; mordanted fabrics were, secondly, treated with chitosan; mordanted and chitosan-treated fabrics were, thirdly, dyed. Method 2: Fabrics were, firstly, treated with chitosan; chitosan-treated fabrics were, secondly, mordanted with Al, Sn, Cu, and Fe; these were dyed then. Method 2 gave distinguished specific color development with darker shade. Apart from this, chitosan-treated fabrics yielded darker shade compared to the pre-mordanted fabrics without chitosan-treatment.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how the entrepreneurial components such as entrepreneur, business idea, and fund incorporated with industry dynamics influenced upon the performance of the firm. For research method, 200questionnaires were distributed to professionals such as entrepreneurs, and managers of fashion business. The returned 122 questionnaires were analyzed by regression analysis with SPSS10.0. The results of this study were as follows: There were significant differences that each of the entrepreneurial components such as entrepreneurs, business ideas, and funds influenced upon the performance of the firm, and entrepreneurs and business ideas among the entrepreneurial components incorporated with industry dynamics influenced upon the performance of the firm.

In order to compare the sizes of infants` brands, the apparel size #70 and #80, #90 were surveyed, while upper body lengths, bust circumferences and waists, hip circumferences, shoulder length, sleeve length, neck circumferences of infants`` underwears were examined. As a result, it was found that upper body lengths, chest circumferences and lower body lengths of infants`` underwears differed more or by 2.0~3.0cm among brands than other sizes. In case of underwear size #70, the average upper body length was 32.8cm; the upper body size of "c" brand was longest or 33.5cm, while that of "e" brand was shortest or 32.0cm. In case of size #80, the average upper body length was 36.0cm; the upper body size of "a" brand was longest or 37.0cm, while that of "e" brand was shortest of 35.0cm. Such findings may be attributable to the fact that the main customers of "a" and "b" brands whose pattern sizes are larger are middle or lower class people who tend to buy larger infants` apparels than their children`s actual body sizes. In contrast, "e" brand seems to target the upper class who prefers the apparels almost fitting their children`s actual body sizes.

Surface properties, including the texture and the luster, of cotton fibers and yarns thereof play an important role in textile technology. The convolutions and the cross-sectional shape of the cotton fiber affect the fabric texture and the luster accordingly. Mercerization of the cotton fabric affects the luster, strength, and other properties of the fabric. In this study, the effect of mercerization was examined on the luster of the cotton fabric, together with the effect of polishing treatment. One of the traditional methods determining the fabric luster is the use of glossmeter or goniometric glossmeter. The use of glossmeter gives successful results in determining the gloss of rather flat and continuous surface such as plastic sheet, painted surface, or paper products. Since the textile fabrics have diverse surface structures and textures, these could be regarded as having three-dimensional surface. Such complexity imposes some difficulties for differentiating subtle surface luster properties of diverse textile fabrics. The advancement in the area of imaging technologies has enabled the micro-scale analysis of the surface textures and the fabric luster recently. Using a CCD camera, the surface luster images were taken at various incident illumination conditions. Microscale analysis, including the blob analysis, of the images could differentiate the subtle luster properties present in a group of cotton fabric samples comprising mercerized cotton fabric, non-mercerized cotton fabric, polished cotton fabric, and a ``standard`` cotton fabric. The glossmeter measurement gave satisfactory but limited differentiation among the samples, whose luster differences are easily recognizable with visual observation, except for the mercerized cotton fabric sample and the non-mercerized cotton fabric. The microscale analysis of the fabric luster could, therefore, help understand the nature of diverse textile fabric luster.

In these days of worldwide network, the famous Characteristics brand which has the raised high confidence through public information and advertisement of a company and a product has estimated as concept of property to be able to create purchasing and high added value and as property value to be able to gain royalty through licensing. According to breaking down of market structure, high competition of sales and being high quality and high price of products, the brand image become an important factor to be decided to purchase products. For the purpose of brand distinction, an affects of consumers attitude in Gucci`s brand image is also an important method for marketing and it was keenly aware of the seriousness. Therefore, this study has been surveyed and analyzed what is difference by way of the population statistics on Gucci`s brand which is well driving away with its brand knowledge by consumers. This method of study is defined the fundamental concept of the brand image, awareness and attitude, and has been studied and analyzed theoretically on Gucci`s brand Image which has the general concept of the brand image strategy, structure and factors. For positive analysis, we chose men and women more than 11 years old whose live in Seoul and the National Capital region as a sample of study. For analysis method, we used analysis method like the average difference method, T-test, dispersion analysis, frequency analysis and technical analysis and SPSS ver. 10.07 for Windows as a statistic analysis program. The result of this study is summarized as the followings. First, for the symbolic image, consumers have realized products of Gucci``s brand as ``high graded``, ``fashion sensibility``, ``attractive images``. For the functional image, Gucci`s brand is thought as practical, delicate, high quality and durable images. For the bags of Gucci`s brand image, they have a strong awareness of the symbolic image and also women have a high positive brand awareness as high graded brand awareness rather than men. Therefore, the brand of Gucci has a high positive brand awareness generally in a consumer attitude whatever in scholastic achievement. Furthermore, the Brand of Gucci has "the brand marketing strategy not for products image but for company brand image" and has advertised a strong brand image as an advertising campaign so that it was aware of the company in memory of consumers. As the result, it is showing that the consumers have a tendence to chose Gucci`s products for purchasing depend on the brand associations among the varieties of brands.
